River Rock Botanicals Soap started the way many good things do—in our Farmington, Connecticut kitchen with a little curiosity, a lot of research, and a desire to help our family.
As registered nurses by day, (still the most trusted profession), we are passionate about caring for people. When some of our family members struggled with eczema and other skin issues, we began exploring natural, handcrafted soap as a gentle complement to conventional skincare.
After months of reading, testing recipes, and a few batches that taught us what not to do, we created our very first bar: Green Tea Zen.
We shared our soaps with friends and neighbors, who shared them with their friends and family. Before we knew it, people throughout our community were asking for wholesome, handcrafted soaps made with simple, nourishing ingredients they could feel good about using.
What started as a kitchen hobby quickly became River Rock Botanicals Soap—a small family business inspired by nature, made with intention, and handcrafted one small batch at a time. We hope every bar brings a little comfort, a little joy, and a moment to slow down and breathe.
What Goes Into Every Bar
We believe that beautiful skin starts with honest ingredients. Every soap we make is crafted with Natural base oils and nourishing butters sourced from trusted, responsible suppliers. We use botanical ingredients that are naturally derived -- never synthetic, never harsh, and never anything we would not want on our own skin.
Natural Base Oils:
The foundation of every River Rock Botanicals bar is a blend of Natural base oils chosen for their skin-nourishing properties. These oils provide gentle cleansing while preserving the skin's natural moisture -- no stripping, no dryness, just clean skin that still feels like skin.
Nourishing Butters:
We add rich, creamy butters to our soaps to give them the kind of moisturizing quality that turns a simple cleanse into a skin-care moment. Butters like shea and cocoa add deep nourishment and a luxurious, silky feel that lasts after you rinse.
Botanical Ingredients:
Our botanical additions are chosen both for what they do for the skin and for the beauty they bring to every bar. Real lavender, oatmeal, rose petals, clay, charcoal, and other botanicals are sourced with the same care and intention as our base oils and butters.
No Harsh Chemicals:
River Rock Botanicals Soap contains no synthetic fragrances, no harsh detergents, no artificial dyes, and no unnecessary fillers. What you see is what you get -- pure, Natural , botanical ingredients and nothing else.

Hi, I am Annie Macaulay -- the hands behind River Rock Botanicals Soap. I am based in Farmington, Connecticut, and I have been handcrafting artisan soaps out of a genuine passion for natural ingredients and the art of soap making. What drives me is simple: I want to create soaps that are as beautiful to look at as they are good for your skin -- and I want every bar to feel like something special, because it is.
You can find me at craft shows and artisan markets across Connecticut throughout the year, and I love every single opportunity to meet the people who use my soaps.
